Although Lewis Hamilton failed to win his eight drivers’ championship title, Mercedes managed to bring home a record eight successive F1 constructors championship title with the pair of Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas managing to ease past Red Bull.

Elsewhere, Verstappen raked in his inaugural drivers’ championship title as he won the Abu Dhabi 2021 Grand Prix after a safety car deployment in the 53rd lap allowed him to get fresh soft tyres. They allowed him the opportunity to move ahead of Hamilton and with it become the first ever driver from Netherlands to get his hands around the prestigious trophy.
