Marceau died on 22 September 2007 at the age of 84 in a retirement home in Cahors, France and his former assistant Emmanuel Vacca announced the news, sharing no specific details of his passing at the time, although some reports have claimed that the mime died of a heart attack.
He was buried at the Pere Lachaise Cemetery in Paris, France with his net worth at $5 million.

Marcel Marceau’s family and education
Marcel Marceau studied dramatic art and mime in the city of Paris at Charles Dullins School. Marceau got married three times, first to Huguette Mallet then to Ella Jaroszewicz and his third wife was Anne Sicco, and he had 6 kids.
Artist and fellow mime Paulette Frankl released a memoir in 2014, about her decades-long relationship with Marceau, Marcel and Me: A Memoir of Love, Lust, and Illusion.
In 1944, Marceau’s father, Charles Mangel, was captured by the Gestapo and was taken to the Auschwitz concentration camp where he was killed, however Marceau’s mother managed to survive.

Marcel Marceau joined Jean-Louis’s company and then he was cast as Arlequin, Baptiste, pantomime. Marceau’s performance encouraged him to present his first “mimodrama” at Bernhardt Theatre. He won an Emmy Award for his 1956 Max Liebman Show of Shows.
Marcel performed all across the world for spreading the “art of silence”. It was the intellectual minority who knew about him until Marcel first toured the United States in 1955 and 1956, close on the heels of his North American debut at the Stratford Festival of Canada.
Marcel’s last world tour was in 2004 in the Unites States and then he returned to Europe in 2005 and was in Australia in late 2006. Marcel was the world’s most renowned mime artist in history.
Being an author, Marcel Marceau has published two books for children, Marcel Marceau Alphabet Book and Marcel Marceau Counting Book. He also has amazing poetry and illustrations, including La ballade de Paris et du Monde, which is an art book that Marcel wrote in 1966.
