Justin Gaethje defeated Dustin Poirier with an unbelievable head kick in the main event of UFC 291 to win Performance of the Night and become the second-ever BMF title. At the Salt Lake City competition on Saturday, four Performance of the Night bonuses were given out. Notably, Derrick Lewis, Bobby Green, & Kevin Holland from the main card were the other victors.

UFC 291 purse details, total payouts, & salaries of all fighters
From his base salary, pay-per-view shares, and sponsorship arrangements, Justin Gaethje reportedly earned $1,360,000 on Saturday. Despite losing the main event, Dustin Poirier still received a total payout of $1,470,000. Alex Pereira, who won the co-main event, took home a net payout of $815,000, and Jan Blachowicz, who lost the match, received a total payoff of $1,010,000, including a whopping $500,000 in guaranteed prize money.

UFC 291 full fight card winner and results
After delivering possibly the knockout of the year with a powerful head kick to finish Dustin Poirier in the UFC 291 main event, Justin Gaethje earned his comeuppance and the BMF belt. Gaethje, who lost to Poirier in their first encounter five years prior, put up an incredible performance and displayed considerably better restraint by resisting the impulse to engage Poirier on the feet.

After a competitive first round, Gaethje used his punches to bait Poirier in the second round, setting up the head kick. Poirier was knocked to the ground as soon as Gaethje’s shin made contact, and the fight was quickly stopped by referee Herb Dean before any more harm could be done. At 1:00 in the second round, the fight was officially stopped as Gaethje celebrated his victory and Jorge Masvidal placed the “BMF” title on Gaethje’s shoulder.
