The Seattle Fire Department responded to a complaint of a water rescue in the 2000 block of Alaskan Way, but they found the victim was already deceased shortly after 7 p.m. The fireboat rescued four people who had been spotted on the rocks below the Pier 66.
Concern was voiced by some Seattle residents after the body was recognised near Pier 66. A Facebook user questioned the sheriff’s office about the inquiry in a comment on their Facebook page. The user inquired as to when Norfleet was killed, how long he had been in the water, and with whom he had been communicating immediately prior to his death.
Pier 66 is a tourist attraction
Seattle’s Pier 66 is a major tourist attraction because of its waterfront setting. The Port of Seattle owns the pier and uses it for a number of different things, including the anchoring of cruise ships and other vessels. Located on the northern shore of Elliott Bay, Pier 66 provides breathtaking panoramas of the bay and the Seattle cityscape.

There is now no threat to the general public, and while the investigation into Norfleet’s death is ongoing, detectives think this is an isolated event. Nonetheless, some Seattleites are seriously considering leaving the city because of safety and other reasons.
Seattleites consider relocation within a year
Recent data from the American Housing Survey conducted by the federal government shows that over 171,600 households in Seattle are thinking about or planning a relocation within the next 12 months. The survey didn’t specifically ask people why they wished to leave, but some have hypothesised that problems with the administration, the political atmosphere, crime, and the homeless would be contributing factors.
Seattle residents are left with unanswered questions regarding Norfleet’s death and waiting for further information as the inquiry progresses.
