In a sad turn of events, a Florida honor roll student, 13, has been detained for the suspected murder of Irina Garcia, his mother, who was 39 years old.

Derek Rosa was characterized as an honor student who was enrolled in the eighth grade at iMater Charter Middle/High School and received straight A’s.
