There are two WTA Tour events happening this week, one of which being the 2022 San Diego Open. In order to participate here, the majority of the best women’s players have gathered, primarily in an effort to qualify for the WTA Finals.
The inaugural San Diego Open in 2022 will run from October 10 to 16; qualifying rounds will take place the weekend before.

In San Diego, California, the Barnes Tennis Center will host the competition.

Schedule
The qualifying rounds will be on October 8 and 9, while the main draw will start on Monday, October 10. Matches in the first and second rounds will be held from Monday through Thursday. On Friday, the quarterfinals will take place, and on Saturday and Sunday, the semifinals and final, respectively.

At 1:30 pm local time, the doubles final will get underway, and at 4 pm, the singles final.

Iga Swiatek, the current World Number One, is followed by six of her top 10 contemporaries in a crowded draw. Along with the World No. 1, Jessica Pegula, Coco Gauff and Daria Kasatkina are the other seeded players making the lineup strong.
There are also many Grand Slam winners in the mix, like Sloane Stephens, Garbine Muguruza, and Bianca Andreescu, reigning Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina to mention a few.
A thrilling first-round matchup at the San Diego Open is anticipated between Caroline Garcia and Danielle Collins, the runner-up at the 2022 Australian Open.
After suffering a devastating loss to Swiatek in the US Open quarterfinals, Aryna Sabalenka is back in action for the first time and is expected to face Veronika Kudermetova or Sloane Stephens.
